Our Mission

Our Mission is to improve the quality of life for seniors, in their home and in the community, by enhancing their physical and emotional well being, thus fostering their personal dignity and independence as defined by the individual.

Our Board of Directors

L&A SOS is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of no more than 14 individuals.  The Directors are a composition of appointed organizations and individuals nominated at large.  The appointed organizations consist of Lennox & Addington County General Hospital, The Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington Public Health, the Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington Community Care Access Centre and the Greater Town of Napanee.  The nominated Directors are drawn from most areas of our County, which offers L&A SOS an opportunity to provide for a more adequate geographic representation.

Our Funding

L&A SOS is partly funded by the South East Local Health Integration Network (LHIN).  We also gain much support from service clubs, general donations, bequests, fundraising, memberships and client fees for services.

A Brief History

Lennox & Addington Seniors Outreach Services Inc. received its Charter of Incorporation in April 1986.  It however, traces its origins to 1980 when a group of local seniors identified the need for transportation for the elderly in the Town of Napanee.  The outcome of this need was met by hiring a school bus each Tuesday.  Service clubs and merchants funded this service.  Twenty-five years later this service is still provided.  From this single initiative evolved the organization, which today we know as L&A SOS.

L&A SOS is a community support service agency providing health care to seniors in south central Lennox and Addington.

L&A SOS first location was in the Lennox & Addington County Hospital.  The initial health services included foot care, meals on wheels, weekly bus services and friendly visiting.  In the first two years one staff member and a group of volunteers took on the operation of L&A SOS.  Due to the rapid growth there was a need for additional space L&A SOS moved to the Masonic Hall basement located on Bridge Street in Napanee in 1989.  More growth of health care services meant a need for additional space and so L&A SOS moved to their current location at the Napanee Lions Hall in 1997.

Our Vision

  1. To provide health care services and recreational opportunities to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, educational and recreational need of seniors.
