Our Mission |

|
History Initially, a group of interested citizens, with the financial support of various service clubs and organizations, established a bus service for the seniors of Napanee. The bus service is still operating on Tuesdays and has expanded to Fridays. L&A SOS then expanded to include meals on wheels (hot & frozen), friendly visits, adult day service, social diners, transportation, wheelchair van, foot care, Lifeline response service, income tax, and caregiver respite, along with social activities such as Line Dancing, Tai Chi, fun & fitness, travelogue, and musical ensemble. The number of services is only limited by the imagination and the number of volunteers that can be recruited. L&A SOS first served the Napanee area, but has stretched its boundaries to extend its helping hand to seniors in surrounding municipalities. L&A SOS provides a responsible, accountable, and efficient independent living community-based alternative to hospital and institutional long-term facility care. The work of L&A SOS is carried out by a large team of dedicated volunteers with the support of staff. A volunteer board of directors meets once a month and oversees the L&A SOS operation. L&A SOS is extremely grateful for the majority of the budget from the Ministry of Health, South East Local Health Integration Network (SE LHIN) to pay for the administration and delivery of services. Client’s fees, tax-deductible donations from service clubs, organizations, businesses, foundation and individuals and many fundraising events support L&A SOS. L&A SOS is also, extremely grateful to KFL&A United Way for the ongoing support to 55 Plus Activity Centre and the Trillium Foundation |
